I gave my best
And plowed that field
The seeds are sown
I await the yield.
I bore my soul
And tilled each mile
My voice is parched
It scraped the vile.
Though night is short
And morning nigh,
The Day is near
With harvest high.

Obama has done his part. He has so successfully created a mirage of an oasis that in due time, we'll all see is not as it appears. I'm surprised so many well educated, Christian, Black folks have been so deceived by this silver tongued orator.
Why is it "racist" and "hate-filled" when Obama's associations are questioned? Is it just a coincidence that he has been and still is associated with so many questionable characters? People that in 2008 still express hatred for the United States. If there is nothing to hide, why have Obama's associations not received any scrutiny by the mainstream media? Oh, and why have his grades, transcripts or anything else related to his education been sealed? His medical records have also been sealed. Why?
Now that Obama has out-spent McCain almost 3-to-1(when he had promised to abide by public financing guidelines)we don't hear any references to the term "war-chest" that the Democrats usually used when the Republicans were out-spending them.
And particularly for Christians, why aren't we curious about what Obama means for us when he consistently talks about it being time for a "fundamental" change? Do we have the same views on abortion, gay marriage and other formerly "moral" things as Obama does? As we've become more conditioned by the secular progressive movement, many of the things that bothered us as recently as 10-20 years ago doesn't seem to phase us now.
Have we taken the time to do the math on Obama's claim that 95% of Americans will receive a tax cut? When the bottom 40% of workers don't pay any federal income taxes, why doesn't it bother us that these people are going to receive money although they never paid anything? Does that not sound like "welfare" or "something for nothing"? Where do we think that money will come from? We are already over-run with illegals that are burdening our resources. Add to that the fact that Obama believes in drivers licenses for illegals, when he has his way and the government is caring for everyone, how will that effect our wallet?
Aren't we at all curious how someone that once taught constitutional law could be so at odds with the constitution itself when it comes to wealth re-distribution? Or, the concept that it's the governments job to provide for everyone? The Eurocentric views and beliefs that Obama holds haven't worked well in Europe, why should they work here?
Just based on Barack's associations alone, if he were to apply for a secret service position he would be disqualified, yet, because he's Black, we're so proud of that fact that we are willing to overlook why he's being heavily supported by the likes of Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Al-Qaeda, and quite a few Middle Eastern extremists.
I guess when someone looks as good and is as eloquent as Obama, and can smile so nicely and remain so calm, we just assume that he must be telling the truth. And even though none of us really know who he is, (although he's told us what he wants us to know), what's important is that he's Black and I guess that trumps everything else.
I'll be praying for us all that if Barack becomes the next President, that he'll be as good as everyone has been fooled into believing he is.
Marvin...
Thanks for taking the time to respond to what I have written. I really appreciate you being upfront about where you are politically because that's real, and we all need to stay real... You know I deeply disagree with what you've written. Your premise against voting for Obama from the "Christian" perspective is a bit suspect to me... What is your perspective on the War in Iraq? How should a Christian respond to Bush's lies, assuming you are a Republican? How is it that a vote for Obama calls one's Christianity into question when a vote for McCain basically endorses all that has transpired under the Bush administration?
Are you in favor of the murder of the thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians caught in Bush's lies? Are you in favor of the economics of greed and a government that is run by corporations for their own gain at the cost of American citizen's own well-being? Are you in favor of spying on Americans and outing CIA agents because they are married to people who disagree with the President of the United States? Are you in favor of voter suppression in Black communities so dishonest Republicans can stay in office? How "Christian" is it for Governor Palin to use her office to abuse those who disagree with her?
How many of these scenarios do you see happening under a "Christian" President Barack Obama? How many of these scenarios DID happen under President George W. Bush who was endorsed by the likes of Dobson, Hagee et al religious fundamentalist "Christian Right" believers? What's worse, and abortion as a result of a rape or the murder of innocent Iraqi children under a bullshit war of choice???
As a "Christian" how did you benefit under George Bush, and how will you benefit under John McCain? What are McCain's "Christian" credentials anyway? What makes him the poster child for Christianity when his moral resume matches that of George W. Bush?
You might be saying, McCain is running, not Bush... But I say McCain is running on Bush's record. He represents all that Bush represents, and he enabled Bush to do the dastardly deeds that he did. McCain is just as dishonest as Bush... And when you start playing the "Christianity" card, then no one gets to stand tall. Not even you, not even me.... Certainly NOT McCain! What standard of "Christianity" are you measuring Obama by anyway? The Parsely-Hagee-Dobson standard or the standard of Christ? If you are using the standard of Christ, then Obama is your man... He is a community organizer like Christ... He is for the fair distribution of government resources, as Christ taught the 12 disciples to be... He is married to one woman... He is a man a peace and love.
With all due respect Marvin, much of what you've written is nothing more than Republican talking points straight out of the Sean Hannity-Rush Limbaugh-Michael Savage book. But considering that our "Illegal immigration problem" is a creation of Ronald Reagan's "amnesty" program of 1988 trying to secure more Republican votes, you do have a point that Obama will inherit that Republican created mess along with the Republican created Iraq War.
If you're going to use the "Christian" defense in bashing Obama, then you have very little reason to vote for McCain-Palin. Actually you have NO Christian right to claim them as honorable. So maybe you should just not vote on November 4 since there are no Christians running that meet your standards...
By the way, Obama has not spent nearly as much as McCain has to become President... Think about all of the lives spent in the Bush-McCain Iraq war... Think about all of the money McCain spent that he and Charles Keating stole from innocent investors back in the '80's... Think about all the money McCain and Bush spent defending the indefensible throughout their years of pillage of the nation's banks through their business/corporate allies...
If Obama becomes President, which he will according to all indicators, the WORLD'S prayers will be answered. Mine for sure.
I'll be praying for that outcome...
